Pandoras - Stop Pretending - 1986 - 60s girl garage punk. Pretty rocking and pretty well played.

Pavilion Steps - Snow Songs - 1985 - This is a band who I went to high school with.  (Dave Edwards later ended up in 16 Horsepower.)  This is a major cross between U2 and Joy Division.  It is kind of fun to listen to now and relive those days.

Payola$ - No Stranger To Danger - 1982 - More 80s new wave.  This one contains Eyes of a Stranger.

Pearl Jam - Vitalogy - 1994 - You know, I would like Pearl Jam a lot if it wasn't for Eddie Vedder. The music is pretty cool, but his singing totally annoys me. I do like Spin the Black Circle off this one (mostly because it is a totally rip of something off Husker Du's Zen Arcade, Beyond the Threshold, I think.)

Pere Ubu - The Modern Dance - 1978 - A classic album of new wave.  Kind of rock.  Kind of dissonant.  Their first.  And Dave Thomas' very distinctive voice on top of it all.  The best songs are Non-Alignment Pact and Real World.

Pere Ubu - Dub Housing - 1978 - The material has become a little more adventuresome and probably a little better than the first one.  Really dark stuff.  Codex is pretty great.

Pere Ubu - 390 Degrees of Simulated Stereo - 1981 - This is a live album of material from the first few albums.  Great songs, pretty good performances.

Pere Ubu - Song of the Bailing Man - 1982 - This is a little more poppier than normal.  The results are ok.

Pere Ubu - Terminal Tower - 1985 - This is a collection of their first couple of years.  Most of this is essential Pere Ubu like Final Solution, Heart of Darkness and Lonesome Cowboy Dave.  Words cannot describe how cool their first single 30 Seconds Over Tokyo is.

Pere Ubu - Don't Expect Art (The U-Men) - Don't know when this is from.  I think this was a live album.  Will update later.

Peter Pan Singers - The Clapping Song/You Can't Get To Heaven Single - One of my many children's records.  This one is pretty nonsensical.  "Three, six, nine, the goose drank wine, the monkey chewed tobacco on the street car line."  Pretty good stuff to be teaching kids.

Peter Pan Singers - Let's Play Train Single - Another really funny kid's song.  Features Mail Train and Train School.  "Would you like to be a mail train, you put me on your head."

Peter Pan Singers - Special Expression Song/Kindness and Consideration When Your Little Friends Come To Visit You Single - Songs to learn all about saying thank you and excuse me.

Peter Pan Singers - Do the Hokey Pokey and the Bunny Hop - All of your favorite childhood songs on one album.  Of course the two classic title songs, my favorite Blue Tail Fly and lots more.  We used to make tapes of stuff like this and play it while waiting in line to see concerts.  All the people with big hair playing Dead Can Dance just hated us.

Pet Shop Boys - Discography - 1991 - Lindsey's.  All their greatest hits.

Pet Shop Boys - Disco 2 - 1994 - Lindsey's album.  Pure disco.  Fairly interesting.  I like all the variations on Absolutely Fabulous.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Don't Come Around Here No More/Trailer Single - 1984 - In this psychedelic stage.  I think this song had a Alice in Wonderland video.

Tom Petty - Full Moon Fever - 1989 - Tom Petty has put out a lot of pretty good stuff.  He has always been just on the edge of new wave while staying firmly in 60s style rock.  Free Fallin' is pretty good here.  Runnin' Down A Dream really rocks.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - Greatest Hits - All of the best from Tom Petty. I mainly like the early stuff (when he was still considered New Wave.)

Liz Phair - The Girlysound Recordings - Early home recordings from 91-92. The sound quality isn't great, but the songs are really cool. Some of these songs ended up re-recorded on later records.

Liz Phair - Whip-Smart - 1994 - Totally cool tough new wave punk.  She can really rock.  The cool song here is Supernova.

Jeffrey Lee Pierce - Wildweed - 1985 - He was the man and the voice behind the great Gun Club.  This album has some really good material like Love and Desperation, Sex Killer and Wildweed.

Pink Floyd - Relics - 1971 - Lots of real early Pink Floyd stuff, some even before Sid Barrett lost it.  Pretty good because it has Interstellar Overdrive and See Emily Play.

Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon - 1973 - I need to try the Wizard of Oz thing someday.  This album is ok.

Pink Floyd -The Wall - 1979 - All the stuff you have heard.  I don't need to tell you about it.  You have probably even seen the movie.

Pink Floyd - The Final Cut - 1983 - Have they totally gone off the deep end here?  Totally obsessive concept album.

Gene Pitney - This Is Gene Pitney - Town Without Pity isn't here, but this double album has 24 of Gene's favorite songs.  Lots of songs about heartache here.

Pixies - Bossanova - 1990 - This is pretty cool rocking guitar stuff.  Good stuff like Cecila Ann, Velouria, Alison, and Dig For Fire.

Pixies - Trompe Le Monde - 1991 - A bit of a disappointment after the last one.  Not as much good stuff and the band broke up right after this.

Plan 9 - Hideaway Single - 1984 - A punky garage kind of band from Rhode Island.  Pretty good songs.

Plan 9 - Keep Your Cool and Read the Rules - 1985 - Pretty decent set of songs from this 60s style garage band.  Not great but entertaining.

Playmates - Long Sweet Dreams - Fairly pleasant pop stuff from, I seem to remember, Australia, but I could be wrong.

The Plimsouls - (Everywhere At Once) - 1983 - This is a pretty great album.  It totally sucks because my copy has a bad warp which pretty much kills the first two songs on each side.  Luckily, it improves in time for A Million Miles Away.

Plasticland - The Lady is No Lady Flexi Single - An awesome bit of 60s style psychedelica from this 80s band.

Plasticland - Plasticland - 1985 - They want to be in the 60s and play psychedelic music so bad.  Really cool trippy stuff like Disengaged From the World.

Plasticland - Wonder Wonderful Wonderland - 1985 - More trippy cool stuff like Process of the Silverness and Non-Stop Kitchen.

Sylvia Plath - Reading Her Poetry - This was recorded in 1958-9.  It is really spooky stuff and really depressing.  Sylvia didn't seem like a very happy person (her later suicide would seem to confirm this.)  Lots of her best poems here.

Poisongirls - 7 Year Scratch - 1984 - A compilation of their whole career from the early recordings in 1977 to 1983 and the much more polished stuff.  When I first heard some of this, I thought it was Crass.  The later stuff sounds almost nothing like that.  The highlight is Real Woman   TP

The Police - Roxanne / Can't Stand Losing You Single - 1978 - The first big song from The Police.

The Police - Reggatta de Blanc - 1979 - The Police are a pretty tight band with some really good material.  I really like a lot of this.  Of course there is Message In A Bottle and Walking On the Moon.

The Police - Zenyatta Mondatta - 1980 - This is still pretty good, but I am not as thrilled.

The Police - Ghost In The Machine - 1981 - Invisible Sun is pretty good, but they are getting too jazzy for me.

The Police - Synchronicity  - 1983 - It seems that Sting has really wrested control about this time.  Some of this is pretty good, but there is way too much Sting.

Iggy Pop & James Williamson - Kill City - 1977 - Really dark album.  Apparently recorded on weekend leaves from the mental home.

Iggy Pop - New Values - 1979 - A pretty good collection of more conventional rock songs.

The Pop Group - For How Much Longer Do We Tolerate Mass Murder? - 1980 - Very abrasive stuff.  Little bit of tribal rhythm thrown in here.  Extremely political stuff.  Pretty interesting.

Pop-O-Pies - The White EP - 1982 - Annoying and pretty funny at the same time.  The Catholics Are Attacking is the centerpiece here.  And there are two versions of The Dead's Truckin' (one done rap style).

The Pop Singers and Orchestra - Themes from Hit TV Shows - More stuff from Peter Pan Records, the kids label.  All sorts of 70s themes like Bionic Woman, Sanford and Son, Little House on the Prairie and much more.

Ezra Pound - Ezra Pound Reading His Poetry - 1958 - This is a really nice album with the poet reading his poems.  The voice really helps to understand the material.  He reads a number of his Cantos, Hugh Selwyn Maubetley, and more.

Prefab Sprout - Two Wheels Good - 1985 - Jazzy sort of pop new wave.  Pretty enjoyable.

The Presidents of the United States of America  - The Presidents of the United States of America - 1995 - Pretty cute album.  Lump is great.  The Peaches song is both annoying and compelling at the same time.  These guys can do a lot with just a few strings.  The best song I heard from them was something I can't find.  It was when I was broadcasting a basketball game (I don't like sports, but I worked in broadcast for a long time) and they played a song about the Seattle Supersonics during a halftime show.

Elvis Presley - Anyway You Want Me/I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone/I Don't Care if the Sun Don't Shine/Mystery Train Single - I think this was my father's single. Cool stuff from the Sun Sessions.

Elvis Presley - The Sun Sessions - 1976 - This is the stuff that started it all.  In 54 and 55 Elvis laid down the most gone tracks in rock history.  Long live the King.

Elvis Presley - Heartbreak Hotel - It's on Pickwick so I assume it is some sort of semi-legal cheap import. Lots of his big songs, mainly from the 50s, but a couple from the 60s and 70s.

Elvis Presley - Stereo 57 (Essential Elvis Volume 2) - 1988 - A bunch of alternative takes of songs from early in his career.  Nothing as good as the Sun Sessions but pretty good.

Elvis Presley - Elvis' Golden Records Vol 1, 2, and 3 - 1958, 1960, 1963 - Three albums of the best o' Elvis.  Everything on here is at least good and most is awesome.

Elvis Presley - Viva Las Vegas / What'd I Say - 1964 - Elvis' version of Viva Las Vegas is even faster than the Dead Kennedys did it later on.

Elvis Presley - Elvis As Recorded At Madison Square Garden - 1972 - This is really funny because it is a quad 8-track, but I just have a normal 8-track player, so you have to switch back and forth between the tracks to get all the instruments on the songs. This was heavily in the American Trilogy stage of his career.

Elvis Presley - Having Fun With Elvis On Stage - 1974 - No doubt about it.  This is definitely fat Elvis.  There's no music on this one, but Elvis telling jokes and adjusting his belt.  Pretty funny.

Elvis Presley - Moody Blue - 1977 - I believe this was Elvis' final album before his death. I kind of like the title song pretty well.

Elvis Presley - Elvis - A Canadian Tribute - 1978 - Some interviews and some music.

Elvis Presley - The Complete Fifties Masters - 1992 - Oh yeah, if you have this, you have it all.  Five cds from his peak.  All the great stuff.  What else can I say?

Pretenders - Pretenders - 1980 - Classic first album from them.  It totally rocks.  You gotta love Precious, Tattooed Love Boy, and The Wait.

Pretenders - Extended Play EP - 1981 - Pretty good couple of songs.  Leaves you wanting a full album.  It has Cuban Slide and Talk of the Town.

Pretenders - Learning to Crawl - 1983 - Even after losing a few key members of the band, they still make great albums.  The songs are not as tough as the older stuff.

Primitons - Don't Go Away Single - 1987 - This is a pretty nice poppy new wave songs.

The Proclaimers - This is the Story - 1987 - Kind of like the Everly Brothers with a really heavy Scottish accent.  This is pretty nice stuff.

Sergei Prokofiev - Peter & The Wolf - 1982 - Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic performs the classic introduction to the instruments of the orchestra with a story.

Propellerheads - Decksandrumsandrockandroll - This album is totally cool.  Electronic stuff that really rocks.  I really like Bang On and Take California.

Psi Com - Psi Com EP - 1985 - This is Perry Ferrell's band before Jane's Addiction and Porno For Pyros.  It has five pretty interesting Siouxie and the Banshees/Cure type stuff on it but isn't really great.

The Psychedelic Furs - The Psychedelic Furs - 1980 -  The first album and a lot noisier and punkier than the later stuff.

The Psychedelic Furs - Talk Talk Talk - 1981 - Here we have the first appearance of Pretty In Pink and it is a lot noisier than the later version for the movie.

The Psychedelic Furs - Forever Now - 1982 - Another really good album from them.  They have added xylophones and cellos, but the same basic sound remains.  Features the classic Love My Way.

The Psychedelic Furs - Mirror Moves - Besides The Ghost In You, there isn't a lot that really catches me.  They have lost their magic. Richard Butler has since moved on to Love Spit Love.

Psychic TV - The Magickal Mystery D Tour E.P. double 7" single - 1984 - This is really strange. It has a pretty straight cover of Good Vibrations (yes, the Beach Boys) and then some songs they wrote for the film Godstar.

Psychic TV - Live In Tokyo - 1986 - Strange little album from ex-Throbbing Gristle members.  Tape loops and some actual jangly almost pop-like songs.  I think this was from the period where they were going to release every live show they ever played on record.  It is pretty cool.

Public Enemy - Apocalypse 91...The Enemy Strikes Back - 1991 - This is pretty good, but I don't think it is the best thing that they have done. Bring the Noize with Anthrax is pretty cool.

Public Image Ltd - Public Image - 1978 - The first album from Johnny Lydon (Johnny Rotten from the Sex Pistols).  A major change in direction from the Sex Pistols.  The guitar is very new wavish and the bass is very heavy, almost reggae.  The title song is really great.

Public Image Ltd. - Metal Box - 1979 - I have the cassette version, so I didn't get the metal disks packaged in a metal box.  This album is totally great.  Layered guitars, synthesizers, and that great bass of Jah Wobble.

Public Image Ltd. - Second Edition - 1980 - The same album as metal box packaged on two lps and a different running order.  Still great no matter what order the songs are.

Public Image Ltd. - The Flowers of Romance - 1981 - A very strange album.  Mostly drums.  The material isn't quite as good either.  Jah Wobble has left at this point.

Public Image Ltd. - This is Not a Love Song 12" Single - 1983 - The last great hurrah from them before Steve Levine left.  Pretty good song which showed up on a later album (which I sold because I didn't like it) minus all the guitar tracks so horn tracks replaced them, but not very well.  These versions have guitar and they are pretty good.

Public Image Ltd. - Album - 1986 - Since the cassette was called Cassette and I have a tape copy of Album, is it still Album or is it Cassette.  Whatever, this is a pretty good album.  Rise is the standout here, and their first sort of hit.

Public Image Limited - Happy? - 1987 - This seems to be where the decline really starts. Seattle is ok, but this rest of this isn't anything special.

PIL - That What is Not - 1992 - Wow, this one is really boring. I don't think there was anything on this I can even remember.

Pussy Galore - Pussy Galore 5000 - 1987 - Punk but really really grungy.  This is some pretty cool stuff.  Pretty Fuck Look is really awesome.  Jon Spencer later went on to form the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. There is even a sort of cover of Should I Stay Or Should I Go on here.

Pylon - Chomp - 1983- A kind of hard to explain band from Athens, Ga.  Kind of danceish, kind of B-52ish, kind of Gang of Fourish.  Crazy is really good here (later covered by R.E.M.).
