L7 - Hungry For Stink - 1984 - Who said that chicks can't rock. This is really pretty awesome stuff. Cool stuff like Andre. I swear that I have heard somebody else do The Bomb, but I can't figure out who it was.
The La Donnas - Shady Lane - Don't know a lot about this one. Found it for 99 cents in Philadelphia. I'll have to listen to it more and report back.
K.D. Lang and the Reclines - Absolute Torch and Twang - 1989 - Twangy lesbian country. Pretty good set of songs.
Peter Laughner - Cinderella Backstreet Single - 1987 - A couple of rare tracks from 73 and 75 from this influential fixture on American punk.
Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin - 1969 - Never a Led Zeppelin fan as a kid. I found this one a few years back in a parking lot. Like every good 60s band, they wrote a song called Good Times Bad Times. I guess this one does have Communication Breakdown so it is ok. Led Zeppelin would be so much better if Robert Plant didn't screech so much and Jimmy Page would never solo again. Restraint is not always a bad thing.
Led Zeppelin - Box Set - 4 cds of Led Zeppelin, almost more than I can handle.
The Left - Redneck 7-11 Single - Kind of generic hardcore punk.
The Left Banke - Walk Away Renee - 1966 - The title song is quite nice. 60s pop. The back of the album says it is a mix of today's 'beat' music and the music of the Baroque. I guess that is because they use a harpsichord.
Tom Lehrer - Songs By Tom Lehrer - A 10" album which I think belonged to my dad. The songs are a lot like that guy on PBS who plays the piano and always sings about politics, except these songs are a lot better and funnier. From the 50s.
The Lemon Pipers - Rice Is Nice / Blueberry Blue Single - 1968 - Cheesy song from one of the bubble gum pop groups of the 60s.
John Lennon - Shaved Fish - 1975 - A collection of his solo stuff. A pretty decent set of songs.
Less Than Jake - Less Than Jake Sampler - 1986 - Part of the new ska punk stuff. This is a three song sampler that came with a magazine. It is pretty good.
Let's Active - Afoot EP - 1983 - From the producer of R.E.M.'s early albums comes a pretty nice little bit of pop. The songs are hummable and pretty .
Let's Active - Cypress - 1984 - It gets even better here. Waters Part is a really great song.
Let's Active - Big Plans for Everybody - 1986 - The childlike charm of the other albums isn't on this one and I really don't like this anywhere near as much as the others.
Let's Active - I Feel Funny / Wild Wild Women - flexi single - Came with Bucketfull of Blood No 16. Interesting couple of songs. An original and a Jim Carroll cover.
Jerry Lee Lewis - 20 Greatest Hits - A Holland pressing of all the big hits. from Jerry Lee like Great Balls of Fire.
Libido - Killing Some Dead Time Sampler - This is a three song sampler that came with a magazine that I subscribe to. Supersonic Daydream is a song that is getting played a little that is pretty good. This also has a funny cover of John Denver's Annie's Song.
Lime Spiders - Slave Girl EP - 1985 - This is a pretty wild 60s garage type band from Australia. This is a couple of singles from 1983. The title song is amazing. The rest is really good and rocking also.
Lime Spiders - The Cave Comes Alive! - 1987 - Pretty good album of 60s style punk, although nothing quite matches their first single Slave Girl.
Little Feat - Dixie Chicken - 1973 - I think this is my sister's album. Kind of a bluesy/latin sort of thing. She always liked Fat Man in the Bathtub.
Little Richard - Little Richard - This is a cheezy pressing of some of his big hits (Tutti-Frutti, Lucille and Good Golly Miss Molly) from Italy.
Liv & Let Liv - Surfin' Pachelbel - This is Lindsey's. It is a bunch of variations on Pachelbel's Cannon. Interesting, but not my cup of tea (which, on a side note, I am a big fan of all kinds of tea. The cupboard is overflowing with all different varieties. I even took a tea tasting class in which everybody was at least 20 years older than I.)
Live Skull - Bringing Home the Bait - 1985 - Slower Sonic Youth/Husker Du type noise and discordance. Skin Job and Sparky are pretty decent.
Live Skull - Cloud One - 1986 - Pretty similar to the earlier one and still pretty good. I'll Break You and The Loved One really stand out.
Live Skull - Swing Time/Raise The Manifestation/Pusherman Single - Pretty cool stuff. And the studio version of Pusherman is really great.
Live Skull - Don't Get Any On You - 1987 - A band in the Sonic Youth tradition. A live album with some pretty strong songs. Their version of Curtis Mayfield's Pusherman is totally cool. Lots of material from Bringing Home the Bait and Cloud One.
Joseph Loduca - The Bitter Suite: A Musical Odyssey - This is the soundtrack from an episode of Xena, where the entire episode was a musical. Pretty good. I dig the Warrior Chorus doing the War/Peace song.
Lone Justice - Ways To Be Wicked Single - 1985 - Maria McKee and her band make a country/retro thing. The song is pretty decent. Before she went totally country.
The Long Ryders - 10-5-60 EP - 1983 - A pleasant five songs of folk, country, 60s revival stuff. I assume the y in the name is not accidental and should remind you of the Byrds, as this does.
The Long Ryders - Native Sons - 1984 - A whole album here and the material is a little more driving and wild. Fairly decent and enjoyable.
Roy Loney & the Phantom Movers - Out After Dark - 1979 - Solo stuff from the guy from the Flamin Groovies. Ok album of 60s style stuff.
Roy Loney & the Phantom Movers - Contents Under Pressure - 1981 - More 60s stuff, but not as good as the other album.
The Lords of the New Church - The Lords of the New Church - 1982 - From ex-Dead Boy Stiv Bator, a pretty good album of gothic rock much in the vein of the 60s Nuggets song. They do a cover of The Balloon Farm's Question of Temperature.
The Lords - Like A Virgin / Method To My Madness Single - 1985 - A pretty brutal mugging of the Madonna song and the best song off their next album. And it is on a pretty cool picture disk.
Los Lobos - How Will the Wolf Survive? - 1984 - A really cool band from East L.A. that play Mexican-American rock (they later went on to do the music for the La Bamba soundtrack). Lots of really great stuff here like Don't Worry Baby and the title track.
Love Delegation - Spread the Word - 1986 - This is Peter Zaremba from the Fleshtones. Kind of like a trippy 60s party. Enjoyable, but not essential.
Love and Rockets - Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven - 1985 - This is 3/4 of Bauhas (missing Peter Murphy) after their breakup. This is a pretty cool album all a bit droney and acoustic. The best thing here is their cover of the Temptations' Ball of Confusion, (which was big in clubs around then). If There Is a Heaven Above and the title track are pretty cool also.
Love and Rockets - Express - 1986 - This isn't as good as the previous one. All In My Mind is pretty decent and their cover of The Temptations' Ball Of Confusion is really great.
Loverboy - Hot Girls In Love / Meltdown Single - 1983 - I think this was a birthday joke gift. So where are Loverboy now, probably playing State fairs somewhere, probably.
Lene Lovich - The Stiff
Years Vol 1 - 1990
Lene Lovich - The
Stiff Years Vol 2 - 1990 - She released four albums on Stiff from
1979 to 1982. This looks like it is all of them. Lindsey was
left these by her friend. She has a very strange voice.
Nick Lowe - Pure Pop for Now People - 1978 - Very diverse offering of really good pop songs.
Nick Lowe - Cruel To Be Kind / Endless Grey Ribbon Single - 1979 - His cool song that was a fairly big hit.
Nick Lowe - Half A Boy And Half A Man Single - 1984 - Pretty good song he performed with His Cowboy Outfit.
Robert Lowell - A Reading - The poet reads a number of his poems.
Lynyrd Skynyrd - One More From the Road - 1976 - The embodiment of Southern boogie. I think this was a brother or sister's album. This is the band that had like 45 lead guitar players. "Freebird".
The Lyres - The Lyres EP - 1981 - Pretty cool four song 60s style garage punk.
