Seasons In the Sun (Original version) Adieu, Emile, my trusted friend, we've known each other since we were nine or ten. Together we climbed hills and trees, learned of love and A B Cs, skinned our hearts and skinned our knees. Adieu, Emile, it's hard to die when all the birds are singing in the sky. Now that the Spring is in the air Pretty girls are ev'rywhere. Think of me and I'll be there. Chorus: We had joy. We had sun. We had seasons in the sun, but the hills we would climb were just seasons out of time. Adieu, Papa, please pray for me. I was the black sheep of the family. You tried to teach me right from wrong. Too much wine and too much song, wonder how we got along. Adieu, Papa, it's hard to die when all the birds are singing in the sky. Now that the Spring is in the air Little children ev'rywhere. When you see them, I'll be there. Chorus Adieu, Francoise, my trusted wife, without you I'd have had a lonely life. You cheated lots of times but then, I forgave you in the end though your lover was my friend. Adieu, Francoise, it's hard to die when all the birds are singing in the sky. Now that spring is in the air With your lovers ev'rywhere; just be careful, I'll be there. All our lives we had fun. We had seasons in the sun, but the hills we would climb were just season out of time. Adieu, Emile. Adieu, Papa. Adieu, Francoise. All our lives, we had fun. We had seasons in the sun, but the hills that we climbed were just seasons out of time. All our lives, we had fun. We had seasons in the sun, but the stars we could reach were just starfish on the beach.

Dead Man's Curve - Jan & Dean (Christian/Berry/Kornfeld/Wilson) I was cruisin' in my Stingray late one night When an XKE pulled up on the right And rolled down the window of his shiny new Jag And challenged me then and there to a drag I said, "you're on, buddy, my mill's runnin' fine Let's come off the line, now, at Sunset and Vine But I'll go you one better if you've got the nerve Let's race all the way To Dead Man's Curve" Chorus: Dead Man's Curve, it's no place to play Dead Man's Curve, you must keep away Dead Man's Curve, I can hear 'em say: "Won't come back from Dead Man's Curve" The street was deserted late Friday night We were buggin' each other while we sat out the light We both popped the clutch when the light turned green You shoulda heard the whine from my screamin' machine I flew past LaBrea, Schwab's, and Crescent Heights And all the Jag could see were my six taillights He passed me at Doheny then I started to swerve But I pulled her out and there we were At Dead Man's Curve Partial chorus: Dead Man's Curve, it's no place to play Dead Man's Curve Dramatic interlude: Well - the last thing I remember, Doc, I started to swerve And then I saw the Jag slide into the curve I know I'll never forget that horrible sight I guess I found out for myself that everyone was right "Won't come back from Dead Man's Curve" [repeat chorus to fade]
Paint It Black By Jagger/Richards I see a red door and I want it painted black No colors anymore I want them to turn black I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes I have to turn my head until my darkness goes I see a line of cars and they're all painted black With flowers and my love both never to come back I see people turn their heads and quickly look away Like a new born baby it just happens ev'ry day I look inside myself and see my heart is black I see my red door and it has been painted black Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts It's not easy facin' up when your whole world is black No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue I could not foresee this thing happening to you If I look hard enough into the settin' sun My love will laugh with me before the mornin' comes I see a red door and I want it painted black No colors anymore I want them to turn black I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes I have to turn my head until my darkness goes Hmm, hmm, hmm,... I wanna see it painted, painted black Black as night, black as coal I wanna see the sun blotted out from the sky I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted black Yeah!

El Paso (written and performed by Marty Robbins) from the 1959 Columbia LP, Gunfighter Ballads & Trail Songs, CL 1349 Out in the West Texas town of El Paso I fell in love with a Mexican girl Nighttime would find me in Rosa's cantina Music would play and Feleena would whirl Blacker than night where the eyes of Feleena Wicked and evil while casting her spell My love was deep for this Mexican maiden I was in love, but in vain I could tell One night a wild young cowboy came in Wild as the West Texas wind Dashing and daring, a drink he was sharing With wicked Feleena, the girl that I loved So in anger I challenged his right for the love of this maiden Down went his hand for the gun that he wore My challenge was answered in less than a heartbeat The handsome young stranger lay dead on the floor Just for a moment I stood there in silence Shocked by the foul, evil deed I had done Many thoughts raced through my mind as I stood there I had but one chance and that was to run Out through the back door of Rosa's I ran Out where the horses were tied I caught a good one, it looked like it could run Up on its back and away I did ride Just as fast as I could from the West Texas town of El Paso Out to the badlands of New Mexico Back in El Paso my life would be worthless Everything's gone in life, nothing is left It's been so long since I've seen the young maiden My love is stronger than my fear of death I saddle up and away I did go Riding alone in the dark Maybe tomorrow a bullet will find me Tonight nothing's worse than this pain in my heart And at last here I am on the hill overlooking El Paso I can see Rosa's cantina below My love is strong and it pushes me onward Down off the hill to Feleena I go Off to my right I see five mounted cowboys Off to my left are a dozen and more Shouting and shooting I can't let them catch me I have to make it to Rosa's back door Something is dreadfully wrong for I feel A deep burning pain in my side Though I am trying to stay in the saddle I'm getting weary, unable to ride But my love for Feleena is strong, and I rise where I've fallen Though I am weary I can't stop to rest I see the white puff of smoke from the rifle I feel the bullet go deep in my chest From out of nowhere Feleena has found me Kissing my cheek as she kneels by my side Cradled by two loving arms that I'll die for One little kiss and Feleena, goodbye

He stood there and asked me why But all I could do was cry I'm sorry I hurt you (the leader of the pack) (Spoken) He sort of smiled and kissed me goodbye The tears were beginning to show As he drove away on that rainy night I begged him to go slow But whether he heard, I'll never know Look out! Look out! Look out! Look out! I felt so helpless, what could I do? Remembering all the things we'd been through In school they all stop and stare I can't hide the tears, but I don't care I'll never forget him (the leader of the pack) (Gone..) Billy Don't Be A Hero ( Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods ) The marchin' band came down along Main Street The soldier blues fell in behind I looked across and there I saw Billy Waiting to go and join the line And with her head upon his shoulder His young and lovely fiancee From where I stood I saw she was cryin' And through her tears I heard her say Billy, don't be a hero, don't be a fool with your life Billy, don't be a hero, come back and make me your wife And as he started to go she said, Billy, keep your head low Billy, don't be a hero, come back to me The soldier blues were trapped on a hillside The battle raging all around The sergeant cried, We've got to hang on, boys! We've got to hold this piece of ground I need a volunteer to ride up And bring us back some extra men And Billy's hand was up in a moment Forgettin' all the words she said She said Billy, don't be a hero, don't be a fool with your life Billy, don't be a hero, come back and make me your wife And as he started to go she said, Billy, keep your head low Billy, don't be a hero, come back to me I heard his fiancee got a letter That told how Billy died that day The letter said that he was a hero She should be proud he died that way I heard she threw that letter away ...

Tell Laura I Love Her ( Ray Peterson ) Laura and Tommy were lovers He wanted to give her everything Flowers, presents, But most of all, a wedding ring He saw a sign for a stock car race A thousand dollar prize it read He couldn't get Laura on the phone So to her mother, Tommy said Tell Laura I love her Tell Laura I need her Tell Laura I may be late I've something to do, that cannot wait He drove his car to the racing grounds He was the youngest driver there The crowed roared as they started the race Around the track they drove at a deadly pace No one knows what happened that day Or how his car overturned in flames But as they pulled him from the twisted wreck With his dying breath, they heard him say Tell Laura I love her Tell Laura I need her Tell Laura not to cry My love for her will never die Now in the chapel where Laura prays For her poor Tommy, who passed away It was just for Laura he lived and died Alone in the chapel she can hear him cry Tell Laura I love her Tell Laura I need her Tell Laura not to cry My love for her will never die Tell Laura I love her Tell Laura I need her Tell Laura not to cry My love for her will never die

Patches - Clarence Carter SPOKEN: I was born and raised down in Alabama On a farm way back up in the woods I was so ragged the kids would call me patches Papa used to kid me about it Of course deep down inside He was thinkin he had done all he could do My papa was a great old man I can see him with a shovel in his hand See, education he never had But he did wonders when the time got bad A little money from the crops he raised Barely paid the bills we made Oh life had kicked him down to the plow When he tried to get up life would kick him back down One day papa called me to his dyin bed Put his hands on my shoulders And in tears he said Patches, I'm depending on you son To pull the family through My son, it's all left up to you SPOKEN: Two days later papa passed away I became a man that day So I told mama I was gonna quit school But she said that was dad's strictest rule So every morning 'fore I went to school I fed the chickens and I chopped wood too Sometimes I felt that I couldn't go on I wanted to leave this but I wanted a home But I always remembered what my daddy said With tears in his eyes on his dyin bed He said, "Patches, I'm depending on you son I tried to do my best, It's up to you to do the rest SPOKEN: But then one day a strong rain came And washed all the crops away And at the age of thirteen I thought I was carrying The weight of the whole world on my shoulders And you know, mama knew what I was going through, Cause Everyday I had to work the fields Cause that's the only way we got our meals You see, I was the oldest of a family And everybody else depended on me Every night I heard my mama pray Lord, give him the strength to face another day Though years have passed and all the kids are gone I aimed to take my mama to a brand new home God knows people that I shed a tear My daddy's voice helped me through the years Sayin, "Patches, I'm depending on you son To pull the family through My son, it's all left up to you I could still hear papa when he'd say Patches, I'm depending on you son I tried to do my best It's up to you to do the rest". Ode To Billie Joe ( Bobbie Gentry ) It was the third of June, another sleepy, dusty Delta day I was out choppin' cotton and my brother was balin' hay And at dinner time we stopped and walked back to the house to eat And Mama hollered out the back door "y'all remember to wipe your feet" And then she said "I got some news this mornin' from Choctaw Ridge" "Today Billy Joe MacAllister jumped off the Tallahatchie Bridge" And Papa said to Mama as he passed around the blackeyed peas "Well, Billy Joe never had a lick of sense, pass the biscuits, please" "There's five more acres in the lower forty I've got to plow" And Mama said it was shame about Billy Joe, anyhow Seems like nothin' ever comes to no good up on Choctaw Ridge And now Billy Joe MacAllister's jumped off the Tallahatchie Bridge And Brother said he recollected when he and Tom and Billie Joe Put a frog down my back at the Carroll County picture show And wasn't I talkin' to him after church last Sunday night? "I'll have another piece of apple pie, you know it don't seem right" "I saw him at the sawmill yesterday on Choctaw Ridge" "And now you tell me Billie Joe's jumped off the Tallahatchie Bridge" And Mama said to me "Child, what's happened to your appetite?" "I've been cookin' all morning and you haven't touched a single bite" "That nice young preacher, Brother Taylor, dropped by today" "Said he'd be pleased to have dinner on Sunday, oh, by the way" "He said he saw a girl that looked a lot like you up on Choctaw Ridge" "And she and Billy Joe was throwing somethin' off the Tallahatchie Bridge" A year has come 'n' gone since we heard the news 'bout Billy Joe And Brother married Becky Thompson, they bought a store in Tupelo There was a virus going 'round, Papa caught it and he died last Spring And now Mama doesn't seem to wanna do much of anything And me, I spend a lot of time pickin' flowers up on Choctaw Ridge And drop them into the muddy water off the Tallahatchie Bridge

The Homecoming Queen has Got a Gun Julie Brown It was homecoming night at my high school Everyone was there, it was totally cool I was so excited, I almost wet my jeans 'Cause my best friend Debbie was homecoming Queen She looked so pretty in pink chiffon Riding the float with her tiara on Holding this humoungous bouqet in her hands She looked straight out of Disneyland You know like the Cinderella ride? Definitely an E ticket {E ticket} The crowd was cheering, everyone was stoked It was like the whole school was totally coked, or something The band was playing "Evergreen" When all of a sudden, somebody screamed, "Look out! The homecoming Queen's got a gun!" Everybody run, the Homecoming Queen's got a gun Everybody run, the Homecoming Queen has got a gun Debbie's smiling and waving her gun Picking off cheerleaders one by one Oh, Buffy's pompon just blew to bits Oh no, Mitzi's head just did the splits God, my best friend's on a shooting spree Stop it, Debbie, you're embarrassing me! Everybody run, the Homecoming Queen has got a gun Everybody run, the Homecoming Queen has got a gun Stop it, Debbie, you're making a mess Powder burns all over your dress An hour later the cops arrived By then the entire Glee Club had died--No big loss You should have seen what they brought to stop her Tear gas, machine guns--even a chopper "Throw down your gun and tiara and come out of the float." Debbie didn't listen to what the cop said She aimed and fired and now the math teacher's dead Oh, it's really sad, but kind of a relief I mean, we had this big test coming up next week. Everybody run, the Homecoming Queen has a gun Everybody run, the Homecoming Queen has got a gun She's really having a blast She's wasting half of the class The cops fired a warning shot that blew her off the float I tried to scream "Debbie!" but it stuck in my throat She hit the ground and did a flip, it was real acrobatic But I was crying so hard I couldn't work my Insta-matic I ran down to Debbie I had to find out Why'd she do it? What made her freak out? I saw the bullet had got her right in the ear It was then I knew the end was near So, I ran down and I said, in her good ear "Debbie, why'd you do it?" She raised her head and said "I-I did it for Jonny." Jonny? Well, like, who's Jonny? Answer me Debbie, who's Jonny? Does anybody here know Jonny? Are you Jonny? There was one guy named Jonny, but he was a total geek and always had food in his braces Answer me Debbie who's Jonny? Oh, god this is like that movie Citizen Kane You know where you later find out Rosebud was the sled And now we'll never know who Jonny is, 'Cause, like, she's dead Everybody run, the Homecoming Queen has got a gun.... repeat to end...

The Music of Romeo and Juliet 1968 "What is a Youth" by Nino Rota, words by Eugene Walter What is a youth? Impetuous fire. What is a maid? Ice and desire. The world wags on, a rose will bloom.... It then will fade: so does a youth, so does the fairest maid. Comes a time when one sweet smile has a season for a while.... Then love's in love with me. Some they think only to marry, others will tease and tarry. Mine is the very best parry. Cupid he rules us all. Caper the cape, but sing me the song, Death will come soon to hush us along. Sweeter than honey... and bitter as gall, Love is a task and it never will pall. Sweeter than honey and bitter as gall. Cupid rules us all." "A Time For Us" (Love Theme From Romeo and Juliet) Facts: - peak Billboard position # 96 in 1969 - competing instrumental version by Henry Mancini charted at # 1 - from the 1968 film produced by Franco Zeffirelli and starring Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey - Words by Larry Kusik and Eddie Snyder and Music by Nino Rota A time for us, some day there'll be When chains are torn by courage born of a love that's free A time when dreams so long denied can flourish As we unveil the love we now must hide A time for us, at last to see A life worthwhile for you and me And with our love, through tears and thorns We will endure as we pass surely through every storm A time for us, some day there'll be a new world A world of shining hope for you and me For you and me And with our love, through tears and thorns We will endure as we pass surely through every storm A time for us, some day there'll be a new world A world of shining hope for you and me A world of shining hope for you and me

Dig It Up - Hoodoo Gurus (Dave Faulkner) My girlfriend lives in the ground. My friends ask why she's not around, She won't come home. I'm so alone (you'll never know!). You can't bury love, You've gotta dig it up. Yeah, you've gotta live it up. I take her flowers each day. I place them over her grave. I want her back Because I look so bad, so bad in black (Like a maniac) You can't bury love, You've gotta dig it up, Yeah, you've gotta live it up. Please, darling, come home to me. Well, I'll make you so happy, you will see! I'll paint your room In pink and blue (I'll even choose the colour scheme for you!). You can't take away my love I'll never give it up! Yeah, I'm gonna dig it up. (Don't!) (Don't! I Don't want to know!) My girlfriend lives in the ground. My friends, you ask me why she's six feet down, I can't tell you why 'cos if I even try I'd fall down flat on my face And I'd cry, "You can't take away my love!" I'm gonna dig it up! I'm gonna live it up, yeah, I'm gonna dig it up, dig it up. I'm never gonna stop With that loving cup. Gotta fill it up.
Leilani - Hoodoo Gurus (D. Faulkner / J. Baker / K. Rendall / R. Radalj) Somewhere on a South Pacific island Sits a young man staring at the surf. His native girlfriend died a death quite violent A tribal sacrifice made to the earth. She was brown, her hair was black, her eyes were blue. A chief's daughter, Leilani was her name. She and her young man made a handsome two But lava tore them both apart again. Leilani, don't go to the volcano (he'd say). They were saving for a little hut, She collected sea-shells every day. Everynight they'd share a cigarette But The ancient, angry gods got in the way. Leilani, don't go to the volcano (he'd plead). (CEREMONY:) Katoomba, Hey! Macumbah, Ho! Umgawah! Hey! Ho! Hey-eh! Ah... Leilani - crula-bula-ulladulla-wok-a-tai Aba-laba-laba, Hut! Leilani-nevageta-huta-tera-cota-tile Aba-laba-laba Hut! Umgawah!!! Still the young man sits upon the beach, He's staring misty-eyed out into space. He's thinking about his girlfriend (of late, deceased), At least her death had purpose; now his life is a waste! Leilani, don't go to the volcano (he'd beg her)
I Was A Kamikaze Pilot - Hoodoo Gurus (Dave Faulkner) I was a, was a kamikaze pilot They gave me a plane - I couldn't fly it home. Taught how to take off, I don't know how to land. They say it doesn't matter and I just cannot understand. I was a kamikaze pilot, They gave me a plane - I couldn't fly it home. Left my happy homeland in a Zero, I got engine trouble so I couldn't be a hero (Do you think I care?). Now I'll keep my two feet on the ground 'Cos when you're in the clouds Everybody tries to shoot you down I was a kamikaze pilot, They gave me a plane - I couldn't fly it home On an island there ain't too much to do Look after number one 'cos I think I can see Lee Marvin chasin' after you. I was a kamikaze pilot They gave me a plane - I couldn't fly it home. Cherry blossoms falling down.
Hayride To Hell - Hoodoo Gurus (Dave Faulkner) Charlie was a driver and he hardly spent a night at home. He rarely saw his family, trucking loads those long weeks on the road. And Charlie would drive For miles and miles. Charlie had a teenage daughter he thought of as a little girl But one day he came home his little girl had grown-up news to tell. "Oh Daddy", she cried "Oh Daddy, I tried but on the hayride how I fell That was a hayride bound for Hell." Now Billy Jackson was the father but he wasn't man enough to own. And his daddy was the mayor and he said, "Charlie, just leave my Billy-boy alone." Billy had to hide But there was guilt inside And you can't hide from yourself. That's just a hayride bound for Hell. Charlie's daughter died whilst giving birth to Billy Jackson's child And Billy Jackson ain't been seen around these parts for quite a while. And Charlie would drive For miles and miles And his tail-lights say farewell He's a hayride bound for Hell.
The Ledge - The Replacements All eyes look up to me High above the filthy streets Heed no bullhorn when it calls Watch me fly and die, watch me fall I'm the boy they can't ignore, For the first time in my life, I'm sure All the love sent up high to pledge Won't reach the ledge Wind blows cold from the west I smell coffee, I smell doughnuts for the press (on their breath?) A girl that I knew once years ago Is tryin' to be reached on the phone I'm the boy she can't ignore, for the first time in my life, I'm sure All the love sent up high to pledge... (Repeat) Priest kneels silent, all is still Policeman reaches from the sill Watch him, watch him try his best There'll be no medal pinned to his chest I'm the boy they couldn't ignore, for the first time in my life, I'm sure (Repeat) I'm the boy for the last time in my life All the love that they pledge For the last time will not reach the ledge

The Everly Brothers - Ebony Eyes On a weekend pass I wouldnt have had time To get home and marry that baby of mine So I went to the chaplain and he authorized Me to send for my ebony eyes My ebony eyes was coming to me From out of the skies on Flight 1203 In an hour or two I would whisper "I do" To my beautiful ebony eyes SPOKEN The plane was way overdue so I went inside to the airlines desk and I said "Sir, I wonder why 1203 is so late?" He said "Aww, they probably took off late or they may have run into some turbulent weather and had to alter their course." I went back outside and I waited at the gate and I watched the beacon light from the control tower as it whipped through the dark ebony skies as if it were searching for (my ebony eyes.) And then came the announcement over the loudspeaker- "Would those having relatives or friends on flight number 1203 please report to the chapel across the street at once." Then I felt a burning break deep inside And I knew the heavenly ebony skies Had taken my lifes most wonderful prize My beautiful ebony eyes If I ever get to heaven Ill bet The first angel Ill recognize Shell smile at me and I know she will be My beautiful ebony eyes
Honey -Artist: Bobby Goldsboro -the # 16 song of the 1960-1969 rock era -was # 1 for 5 weeks in 1968 -Words and Music by Bobby Russell (who also wrote "Little Green Apples" and -"The Night the Lights Went Out In Georgia") See the tree, how big it's grown but friend it hasn't been too long it wasn't big I laughed at her and she got mad, the first day that she planted, it, was just a twig Then the first snow came and she ran out to brush the snow away So it wouldn't die Came runnin' in all excited, slipped and almost hurt herself And I laughed till I cried She was always young at heart, kinda dumb and kinda smart and I loved her so And I surprised her with a puppy Kept me up all Christmas Eve two years ago And it would sure embarrass her When I came in from workin' late 'cause I would know That she'd been sittin' there and cryin' Over some sad and silly late, late show And honey, I miss you and I'm bein' good And I'd love to be with you if only I could She wrecked the car and she was sad And so afraid that I'd be mad but what the heck Though I pretended hard to be Guess you could say she saw through me and hugged my neck I came home unexpectedly and caught her cryin' needlessly In the middle of a day And it was in the early Spring when flowers bloom and robins sing She went away And honey, I miss you and I'm bein' good And I'd love to be with you if only I could One day while I was not at home while she was there and all alone The angels came Now all I have is memories of Honey and I wake up nights and call her name Now my life's an empty stage where Honey lived and Honey played And love grew up And a small cloud passes overhead and cries down on the flower bed That Honey loved And see the tree how big it's grown but friend it hasn't been too long it wasn't big And I laughed at her and she got mad The first day that she planted it, was just a twig

Adam's Song by Blink 182 I never thought I'd die alone I laughed the loudest who'd have known? I traced the cord back to the wall No wonder it was never plugged in at all I took my time, I hurried up The choice was mine I didnt think enough I'm too depressed to go on You'll be sorry when Im gone I never conquered, rarely came 16 just held such better days Days when I still felt alive We couldn't wait to get outside The world was wide, too late to try The tour was over, I'd survived I couldn't wait til I got home To pass the time in my room alone I never thought I'd die alone Another six months I'll be unknown Give all my things to my friends You'll never set foot in my room again You'll close it off, board it up Remember the time I spilled the cup Of apple juice in the hall Please tell mom this is not her fault I never conquered, rarely came Tomorrow just holds such better days Days when I can still felt alive When I can't wait to get outside The world is wide, the time goes by The tour is over, I've survived I can't wait til I get home To pass the time in my room alone

Emma by Hot Chocolate We were together since we were five She was so pretty Emma was a star in everyone's eyes And when she said she'd be a movie queen Nobody laughed A face like an angel She could be anything Emmaline Emma, Emmaline I'm gonna write your name high on that silver screen Emmaline Emma, Emmaline I'm gonna make you the biggest star this world has ever seen At seventeen we were wed I'd work day and night To earn our daily bread And every day Emma would go out Searching for that play That never, ever came her way You know sometimes she'd come home So depressed I'd hear her crying in the back room Feel so distressed And I'd remember back when she was five To the words that used to make Emmaline come alive It was : "Emmaline, Emma, Emmaline, I'm gonna write your name high on that silver screen. Emmaline, Emma, Emmaline I'm gonna make you the biggest star this world has ever seen." It was a cold and dark December night When I opened up the bedroom door To find her lying still and cold Upon the bed A love letter lying on the bedroom floor It read : "Darling I love you, But I just can't keep on living on dreams no more. I tried so very hard not to leave you alone. I just can't keep on trying no more." Emmaline ... Aaargh, Emmaline ... Aaargh ... Emma, Emmaline ... Aaargh ... Emma, Emmaline ...

While My Dad Gently Weeps by Furnaceface ["Punctuality is stressed in this household. By that, I mean hair is combed and faces and hands scrubbed before the boys come to the table so they won't delay the meal. Now, mother and daughter put the finishing touches on the dinner. Father, too, looks forward to this date with the family. He has had a hard day at the office and in his briefcase are some contracts which must be looked over tonight. But in the meantime, he will relax at dinner with those he loves."] Let's grab some cash from Dad's wallet while he's asleep and while we're at it, let's steal the old man's keys We'll take his Volvo downtown, cruise around, check out the scene We'll buy some beer and then do donuts in the parking lot across the street CHORUS: While the old man is asleep into his bedroom we will creep We'll steal his money and his keys while the old man is asleep Let's crack open his liquor cabinet and have a few A couple for me, 15 for you! Hey, take it easy, that's Dad's favourite chair you're covering in puke! Ah, what the hell--what's he gonna do?--CHORUS ["Children are not possessions."] Let's play his records at 78 You know, at this speed, Paul Anka sounds great Let's pop a couple of his heart pills just for fun and when we're really pissed, we'll play with his gun--CHORUS ["Mr. Cook?" "Yes?" "You have a son named Robin? Robin Cook, age 17?" "Yes." "I'm sorry, Mr. Cook. You better come down to the station house. Your son is dead."] AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! OH YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAH-HAA-HAA-HAAA!!!!!! Hey, I don't hear him snoring anymore Hey, hey, hey, he's in my van, and he's listening to hardcore! Isn't that my wallet on the dash? Isn't that my girlfriend in his lap?? I guess I musta been asleep Into my bedroom he did creep He stole my money and my girl I guess I musta been asleep ["He died of an overdose." "Oh, my God...sob...sob..."] ["Things get a little easier once you understand."]
Terry By Twinkle Terry, Terry He said to me he wanted to be near to me He said he never wanted to be out of my sight But it's too late to give this boy my love tonight Please wait at the gate of heaven for me, Terry. He said to me he wanted to be close by my side We had a quarrel, I was untrue on the night he died And it's too late to tell this boy how great was Please wait at the gate of heaven for me, Terry. He rode into the night, accelerated his motorbike I cried to him in fright, don't do it, don't do it, don.t do it. He said to me you are the one I want to be with He said to me you are the one who my love I shall give One day he'll know how hard I prayed for him to live Please wait at the gate of heaven for me, Terry. Black Denim Trousers The Diamonds Words and Music by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller -as sung on "The Diamonds Collection"-Stardust CD-1010 -charted by The Cheers at # 6 in 1955 He wore black denim trousers and motorcycle boots And a black leather jacket with an eagle on the back He had a hopped-up 'cicle that took off like a gun That fool was the terror of Highway 101 Well, he never washed his face and he never combed his hair He had axle grease imbedded underneath his fingernails On the muscle of his arm was a red tattoo A picture of a heart saying "Mother, I love you" He had a pretty girlfriend by the name of Mary Lou But he treated her just like he treated all the rest And everybody pitied her and everybody knew He loved that doggone motorcycle best He wore black denim trousers and motorcycle boots And a black leather jacket with an eagle on the back He had a hopped-up 'cicle that took off like a gun That fool was the terror of Highway 101Mary Lou, poor girl, she pleaded and she begged him not to leave She said "I've got a feeling if you ride tonight I'll grieve" But her tears were shed in vain and her every word was lost In the rumble of an engine and the smoke from his exhaust : Then he took off like the Devil and there was fire in his eyes!! He said "I'll go a thousand miles before the sun can rise." But he hit a screamin' diesel that was California-bound" And when they cleared the wreckage, all they found Was his black denim trousers and motorcycle boots And a black leather jacket with an eagle on the back But they couldn't find the 'cicle that took off like a gun And they never found the terror of High way 1 oh 1

Paint It Black by the Rolling Stones (Jagger/Richards) I see a red door and I want it painted black No colors anymore I want them to turn black I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes I have to turn my head until my darkness goes I see a line of cars and they're all painted black With flowers and my love both never to come back I see people turn their heads and quickly look away Like a new born baby it just happens ev'ry day I look inside myself and see my heart is black I see my red door and it has been painted black Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts It's not easy facin' up when your whole world is black No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue I could not foresee this thing happening to you If I look hard enough into the settin' sun My love will laugh with me before the mornin' comes I see a red door and I want it painted black No colors anymore I want them to turn black I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes I have to turn my head until my darkness goes Hmm, hmm, hmm,...
I Want My Baby Back - Jimmy Cross I want my baby back Gotta have my baby back I miss her oh so much Can't live without her touch [Spoken] I don't hardly know where to begin. I remember we were cruising home from the Beatles concert. I'd had such a wonderful evening, sitting there watching my baby screaming, and tearing her hair out, and carrying on. She was so full of life. Then, well, we were about three miles from home when all of a sudden it started to rain. And I do mean rain. I couldn't hardly see nothing. Well, we kept driving for about another mile when all of a sudden I see this stalled car right smack in front of me. Well, I wasn't about to slam on the brakes 'cause I didn't have none to start with. So I swerved to the left. And what do I see - some mushhead on a motorcycle headin' right at us. And I knew at last me and my baby were about to meet the leader of the [Crash sounds] pack Well, when I come to, I looked around And there was the leader And there was the pack And over there was my baby And over there was my baby And way over there was my baby I want my baby back Gotta have my baby back I miss her oh so much Can't live without her touch [Spoken] It's been many months now since that fateful night. And you know something, I've tried. Believe me, I have tried. But I just can't make without my baby. So I've decided I'm going to have her back one way or another. Oh, baby, I dig you so much. Hot dang, pay dirt. [Digging and creaking] I've got my baby back Now, I've got my baby back I love her oh so much Can't live without her touch I've got my baby back
Car Crash - The Cadets [Crash sounds] [Scat lyrics alternated with repeated 'Baby'] There's my baby lying there on the ground I can see crowd start to get around I know I drove too fast Thought she would get a thrill Now I see my baby lying there on the road Whoa, baby, why don't you open your eyes? The Pickup - Mark Dinning I made a date on the dare of a friend If I'd known how it would end, I'd have turned around and ran away right then From the pickup I was a boy looking for fun She looked so lost and all alone And I didn't know my heart would be won By the pickup How could know her lips were so warm? Or how big I'd feel with her in my arms? How could I know? How could I see? I'd fall in love with her, and she would love me I should have told her I loved her right then I couldn't face all of my friends So I told my darling I couldn't see her again I lost the pickup The morning papers told how she died Jumped from a bridge, suicide And nobody knows that the heart in me cries For the pickup For the pickup
Death of an Angel - Donald Woods & the Vel-Aires My baby's gone And left me left me all alone My baby's gone And she left me all alone So alone, I want my baby home I still remember The day she went away That was the day My angel me left me to stay Oh, no, no, I want my baby home I know that she is gone Ooh-ooh-ooh? Leah - Roy Orbison Words and music by Roy Orbison Le-Leah, Leah! Le-Leah, Leah! Here I go, From the hut to the boat, to the sea For Leah. Ah-hah, I gotta go diving in the bay, Gotta get a lot of oysters, find some pearls today, To make a pretty necklace for Leah, Le-e-ah. I?ve gotta go deep and find the ones just right -- I?ll bet my Leah?ll be surprised tonight. I?ll place the pearls around the only girl for me, Le-e-ah. But something?s wrong, I cannot move around -- My leg is caught, it?s pulling me down, But I?ll keep my hand shut tight, for if they find me, They?ll find the pearl for Leah. And now it?s over, I?m awake at last -- Old heartaches and memories from the past. It was just another dream about my lost love, ?Bout Le-e-ah. Le-Leah, Leah! Le-Leah, Leah! Here I go, Back to sleep, and in my dreams, I?ll dream With Leah, Leah, Le-ah!
Indian Wedding - Roy Orbison (Orbison) There once was an Indian brave by the name of Yellow Hand He fell in love with a maiden know as White Sands They vowed their love would last forever more Then came the day that they had waited for. Yellow Hand brought her a golden feather White Sands said a prayer for good weather The ceremonial dance grew loud and strong Then Yellow Hand began their wedding song. Oooooh Oooooh Oooh Ooooh Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh, ooh ooh Tonight, tonight, We will be one We'll walk in the land of the midnight sun Oh White Sands, come hold my lonely hand. Then they left the warmth of the raging fire And rode into the hills climbing higher And suddenly the snow came swirling down They were lost the trail could not be found. Oooooh Oooooh Oooh Ooooh Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh, ooh ooh Tonight, tonight We will be one We'll walk in the land of the midnight sun Oh White Sands, Come hold my lonely hand. They never returned from Paradise They went to their places in the sky And the old ones still say when the snowflakes fly If you'll listen close you'll hear him cry: Oooooh Oooooh Oooh Ooooh Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh, ooh ooh Tonight, tonight We will be one We'll walk in the land of the midnight sun Oh White Sands, Come hold my lonely hand.

Wildfire song written by Larry Cansler and Michael Martin Murphy She comes down from Yellow Mountain On a dark, flat land she rides On a pony she named Wildfire With a whirlwind by her side On a cold Nebraska night Oh, they say she died one winter When there came a killing frost And the pony she named Wildfire Busted down its stall In a blizzard he was lost She ran calling Wildfire By the dark of the moon I planted But there came an early snow There's been a hoot-owl howling by my window now For six nights in a row She's coming for me, I know And on Wildfire we're both gonna go We'll be riding Wildfire On Wildfire we're gonna ride Gonna leave sodbustin' behind Get these hard times right on out of our minds Riding Wildfire
Old Shep - Elvis Presley When I was a lad And old Shep was a pup Over hills and meadows we'd stray Just a boy and his dog We were both full of fun We grew up together that way I remember the time at the old swimmin' hold When I would have drowned beyond doubt But old Shep was right there To the rescue he came He jumped in and then pulled me out As the years fast did roll Old Shep he grew old His eyes were fast growing dim And one day the doctor looked at me and said I can do no more for him Jim With hands that were trembling I picked up my gun And aimed it at Shep's faithful head I just couldn't do it I wanted to run I wish they would shoot me instead He came to my side And looked up at me And laid his old head on my knee I had struck the best friend that a man ever had I cried so I scarcely could see Old Shep he has gone Where the good doggies go And no more with old Shep will I roam But if dogs have a heaven There's one thing I know Old Shep has a wonderful home
Timothy - The Buoys (Rupert Holmes) Trapped in a mine that had caved in And everyone knows the only ones left Were Joe and me and Tim When they broke through to pull us free The only ones left to tell the tale Were Joe and me Timothy, Timothy, where on earth did you go? Timothy, Timothy, God why don't I know? Hungry as hell no food to eat And Joe said that he would sell his soul For just a piece of meat Water enough to drink for two And Joe said to me, "I'll have a swig And then there's some for you." Timothy, Timothy, Joe was looking at you Timothy, Timothy, God what did we do? I must have blacked out just around then 'Cause the very next thing that I could see Was the light of the day again My stomach was full as it could be And nobody ever got around To finding Timothy Timothy...
ANGELICA - The Litter (Weil/Mann) Each night I meant to say I missed her through the day But I'd forget it I never said it I passed the flower shop Lord knows I meant to stop But I said tomorrow Perhaps tomorrow Tomorrow there'd be time There'd always be another spring Time to make her laughter ring Time to give her everything Angelica, my Angelica There's so much you never knew So much I always meant to say And do, for you, for you Angelica And then the cold winds came And when I spoke her name And felt her near me She couldn't hear me Her shadow had been cast Too many springs had passed For Angelica Sweet Angelica Now in my solitude I tend the flowers that I buy As they slowly fade and die Watered by the tears I cry for my Angelica, my Angelica There's so much you never knew So much I always meant to say And do, for you, for you Angelica Angelica Angelica Angelica

St. Lawrence River - David Usher Little Songs Smells on the air See there it's crushing the final impression The stains on the paper Where words fell like water Unearth all the changes that never did matter I think it's beginning to freeze here Caught in the rage and the fire of things All the brightness that burns me I'm fumbling through like a child in the dark When the nakedness comes I am shocked by the colour the glorious weight of your skin Comes alive And I never thought we'd make it back so soon Might be nice But I knew you'd be your own destroyer Comes a time And I always thought I'd make it up to you Here please forgive me Could we escape all the bitterness piled upon bitterness Held in the face of the things that I don't understand Intellectualize over and over This helplessness suits us Funny how quiet has slipped to our corners Worn all our edges away You are watching breathing and baiting Wanting and warming and cautiously waiting For some simple signal to creep cross your conscience Uncover redemption and oh did I mention I carried you down to the St. Lawrence River The banks running dirty the water's beginning to freeze here Solid by morning And I'll freeze here Winter by morning Comes a lie And I never thought you'd get me back so soon Might be nice But it's only if my own destroyer Comes alive And I always knew I'd make it up to you I saw on your face such a curious grin As I let go your hand I was desperate to hold you again But you're sinking so deep in the water Outsmarted myself and so easily gave up what I wanted Solid by morning What I wanted Winter by morning Comes alive And I never thought you'd make it up so soon Night be nice But I always knew you're my destroyer Comes a time And I always thought I'd make it up to you Solid by morning And I'll freeze here Winter by morning
Where The Wild Roses Grow - Nick Cave (feat. Kylie Minogue) They call me The Wild Rose But my name was Elisa Day Why they call me it I do not know For my name was Elisa Day From the first day I saw her I knew she was the one She stared in my eyes and smiled For her lips were the colour of the roses That grew down the river, all bloody and wild When he knocked on my door and entered the room My trembling subsided in his sure embrace He would be my first man, and with a careful hand He wiped at the tears that ran down my face [Chorus] On the second day I brought her a flower She was more beautiful than any woman I'd seen I said, "Do you know where the wild roses grow So sweet and scarlet and free?" On the second day he came with a single red rose Said: "Will you give me your loss and your sorrow" I nodded my head, as I lay on the bed He said, "If I show you the roses, will you follow?" [Chorus] On the third day he took me to the river He showed me the roses and we kissed And the last thing I heard was a muttered word As he knelt (stood smiling) above me with a rock in his fist On the last day I took her where the wild roses grow And she lay on the bank, the wind light as a thief And I kissed her goodbye, said, "All beauty must die" And lent down and planted a rose between her teeth [Chorus]

"Shannon" By Henry Gross "Another day is at end Mama says she's tired again No one can even begin to tell her I hardly know what to say But maybe it's better that way If Papa were here I'm sure he'd tell her Shannon is gone I heard she's drifted out to sea She always loved to swim away Maybe she'll find an island With a shady tree Just like the one in our backyard Mama tries hard to pretend That things will get better again Somehow she's keeping it all inside her But finally the tears fill our eyes And I know that somewhere tonight She knows how much we really miss her Shannon is gone I heard she's drifted out to sea She always loved to swim away Maybe she'll find an island With a shady tree Just like the one in our backyard"

The Message - Grandmaster Flash (E.Fletcher, S.Robinson, C.Chase, M.Glover - SugarHill Records '82) Broken glass everywhere People pissing on the stairs, you know they just don't care I can't take the smell, I can't take the noise Got no money to move out, I guess I got no choice Rats in the front room, roaches in the back Junkie's in the alley with a baseball bat I tried to get away, but I couldn't get far Cause the man with the tow-truck repossessed my car Chorus: Don't push me, cause I'm close to the edge I'm trying not to lose my head It's like a jungle sometimes, it makes me wonder How I keep from going under Standing on the front stoop, hangin' out the window Watching all the cars go by, roaring as the breezes blow Crazy lady, livin' in a bag Eating out of garbage piles, used to be a fag-hag Search and test a tango, skips the life and then go To search a prince to see the last of senses Down at the peepshow, watching all the creeps So she can tell the stories to the girls back home She went to the city and got so so so ditty She had to get a pimp, she couldn't make it on her own Chorus: It's like a jungle sometimes, it makes me wonder How I keep from goin' under My brother's doing fast on my mother's T.V. Says she watches to much, is just not healthy All my children in the daytime, Dallas at night Can't even see the game or the Sugar Ray fight Bill collectors they ring my phone And scare my wife when I'm not home Got a bum education, double-digit inflation Can't take the train to the job, there's a strike at the station Me on King Kong standin' on my back Can't stop to turn around, broke my sacroiliac Midrange, migraine, cancered membrane Sometimes I think I'm going insane, I swear I might hijack a plane! Chorus: My son said daddy I don't wanna go to school Cause the teacher's a jerk, he must think I'm a fool And all the kids smoke reefer, I think it'd be cheaper If I just got a job, learned to be a street sweeper I dance to the beat, shuffle my feet Wear a shirt and tie and run with the creeps Cause it's all about money, ain't a damn thing funny You got to have a con in this land of milk and honey They push that girl in front of a train Took her to a doctor, sowed the arm on again Stabbed that man, right in his heart Gave him a transplant before a brand new start I can't walk through the park, cause it's crazy after the dark Keep my hand on the gun, cause they got me on the run I feel like an outlaw, broke my last fast jaw Hear them say you want some more, livin' on a seesaw Chorus: A child was born, with no state of mind Blind to the ways of mankind God is smiling on you but he's frowning too Cause only god knows what you go through You grow in the ghetto, living second rate And your eyes will sing a song of deep hate The places you play and where you stay Looks like one great big alley way You'll admire all the number book takers thugs, pimps, pushers and the big money makers Driving big cars, spending twenties and tens And you wanna grow up to be just like them Smugglers, scrambles, burglars, gamblers Pickpockets, peddlers and even pan-handlers You say I'm cool, I'm no fool But then you wind up dropping out of high school Now you're unemployed, all null 'n' void Walking around like you're pretty boy Floyd Turned stickup kid, look what you done did Got send up for a eight year bid Now your man is took and you're a May tag Spend the next two years as an undercover fag Being used and abused, and served like hell Till one day you was find hung dead in a cell It was plain to see that your life was lost You was cold and your body swung back and forth But now your eyes sing the sad sad song Of how you lived so fast and died so young Chorus:
7-11 - Ramones I met her at the 7-11 Now I'm in 7th heaven Tell me, tell me Can this be true I never though I'd ever meet a girl like you She was standing by the Space Invaders So I said can I see you later Yeah we went for a little spin Down to the Holiday Inn We was young and in love We was young and in love And you're the only girl I'm ever thinking of We went down to the record swap The kids were dancing to the blitzkrieg bop Bop-shoo-wop shoo-wop shoo-wop Bop-shoo-wop shoo-wop shoo-wop What ever happend to the radio And where did all the fun songs go Summer fun, with the Beach Boys on But we all know what went wrong Oh-wo-wo We was young and in love We was young and in love And you're the only girl I'm ever dreaming of And we went down to the dance Which turned into a whole romance And after just one night I never knew that things could be so right Oh-no-no-no-no-no-no-no I kissed her and hugged her And I said good-bye Last thing I knew She wouldn't make it alive Oncoming car went out of control It crushed my baby And it crushed my soul Now all I've got is sorrow and pain Standing out here in the rain The crash, shattering glass The sirens, and pain Is driving me insane oh-yeah We was young and in love We was young and in love And you're the only girl I'm ever thinking of Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Eye Of The Hurricane by David Wilcox Album : How Did You Find Me Here Tank is full, switch is on Night is warm, cops are gone Rocket bike is all her own It's called a hurricane She told me once it's quite a ride It's shaped so there's this place inside Where if you're moving you can hide Safe within the rain She wants to run away But there's nowhere that she can go Nowhere the pain won't come again But she can hide Hide in the pouring rain She rides the eye of the hurricane Tell the truth, explain to me How you got this need for speed She laughed and said "it might just be The next best thing to love." Hope is gone and she confessed When you lay your dream to rest You can get what's second best But it's hard to get enough She wants to run away But there's nowhere that she can go Nowhere the pain won't come again But she can hide Hide in the pouring rain She rides the eye of the hurricane We saw her ride so fast last night Racing by a flash of light Riding quick, the street was dark A shining truck she thought was parked It blocked her path, stopped her heart But not the hurricane She saw her chance to slip the trap There was just the room to pass in back But then it moved, closed the gap She never felt the pain She wants to run away But there's nowhere that she can go Nowhere the pain won't come again But she can hide Hide in the pouring rain She rides the eye of the hurricane She rides the eye of a hurricane.
"I Love You" by Black Flag from My War I put my fist through the door I hate myself for you I love you Suspicion rules my very soul My knife is sharp, My thoughts are cold I love you I love you Because, I love you I can't talk, I can't think My feelings burn inside of me I love you I run through the door, to the liquor store The doors are closed, you're catching crows (?) I love you I love you Because, I love you I practice my knife, I feel the power I look in the mirror and I want to destroy her I love you I gave you my life, but what did I get? Now its time to take it back I love you I love you Because, I love you I hear a car, your footsteps outside Knife in hand, love in heart Sweating - I wait I love you You screamed, you bled, you laid on the floor But now I know you'll leave me no more I love you I love you Because, I love you.
Bobby Swanson - Janie's Face (1961) [Donna Records 1336 - (Janie's Face / Peggy's Last Birthday)] Well I went to bed so lonely and blue Just thinking of my long lost love And then I woke in the still of the night A heavenly glow shone above Stood there before me Tear drops on her face Told me she loved me No one could take my place Well, if I live forever I won't forget that sign How I saw Janie's face In my dreams last night She came to me then And I heard her cry She touched held my hand tight Tears filled her eyes Well if I die tomorrow I won't forget that sign How I saw Janie's face in my dreams last night Took off her red scarf Her golden hair glowed Kissed me goodbye And then off did she go Woke up this morning And looked on my bed There laid a red scarf From Janie's head Well if I live forever I won't forget that sign How I saw Janie's face in my dreams last night
A YOUNG GIRL OF 16 (Aznavour / Chauvigny / Brown) Noel Harrison She left he neighbourhood in which everyone was filthy rich. She left her parents' home and went straight with a vagabond who made vows of love she'd never heard, and she believed his every word. She left no following address, just took her youth and happiness as with the boy she vanished in, the secret sweetness of their sin. A young girl, a young girl who is sixteen child of springtime, still green, lying here by the road. He told her love demanded space, so they rode from place to place. Although she realized she'd sin, she threw cautions to the wind as she followed him around and he slowly dragged her down. So overpowering was her love that it made him the captain of a young girl's heart and soul and mind. In other words: love drove her blind. A young girl, a young girl who is sixteen child of springtime, still green, lying here by the road. Too much emotions for a girl she let her heart become her world. But worlds that God has never wrought for a thunder [...]. Had she been wiser she would have known she could not feed him love alone. She should have known the day would come when he would quit her just for crumbs. He needed fresh new meat to carve and left her heart and mind to starve. A young girl, a young girl who is sixteen child of springtime, still green, lying here by the road. Dead.
Jenny Brown - Smothers Brothers Spoken: Tommy: My brother, my brother and myself have banded together in an organization, an organization called the siblings. A small crawling animal, the point is, my brother and myself are starting... Dick: What Tommy is trying to say is we are planning on trying to change our type of music and change the direction in which we want to sing we want to sing more to the teenagers, teenage love songs, passionate songs, because teenagers need to understand they are in a very difficult time of life And there's a lot of people who sing just for teenagers and they are very very successful Tommy: The Beatles are they ... Dick: They are as successful as you can get Tommy: And they have Beatle wigs Dick: Right Tommy: And if you and I ever get that popular we couldn't have Smothers' wigs Dick: No we could Tommy: Because of our hairline, so we are going to have plastic ears Dick: Tommy why don't you tell them the song we would like to try and launch this new career with. Tommy: Our new career will be launched with a song, a teenage song, a teenage song capturing the extremes of the emotional spectrum of excitement. First, the song has the unhappiness and the tragedy, and the end of the world feeling which a teenage love, or a young person's love when it goes wrong, it has its unhappiness which knows no bounds and knows no depths of sorrow and pain. On the other extreme, we have elation, happiness, the teenage love is never a middle of the road thing, but the extremes, this song featuring my brother and myself will feature his lyric voice, the compassion he has gained... Dick: Through bitter experience Tommy: Through bitter experience, my brother will sing now the tragic yet beautiful story of the lovely teen angel. Dick: No, that's not the name of the song Tommy: The lovely teen angel, Jenny Brown. Passionate form, vivacious eyes sparkling alive. ...Screwed up... Nobody's perfect. Singing: As I was walking by the shore, I happened there to see, A woman's form a-lyin' there, As still as still could be. The dress she wore was gingham blue, Her hair all tumbled down; It might have been my own true love, My sweetheart Jenny Brown. Her face was turned into the sand Was who, I couldn't tell But on her hand was a high school ring A ring I knew too well My heart stood still, I grasped her arm And then I turned her round Alas it was my own true love My sweetheart Jenny Brown Spoken: Oh Jenny...Brown Why did I treat you cru-el Gosh wizz Jenny, there was tears in your eyes And you ran away from me and now here I find you on the beach all still and sandy And flies and stuff Singing: I stared into her loving face A face that used to clown I saw one eye a-flicker Then wink and open round Ha ha she laughed, then jumped up tall "I'll bet you thought I'd drowned." What a rotten sense of humor, Has my sweetheart Jenny Brown. (This is another version I found of this song) As I was walking by the shore, I happened there to see, A woman's form a-lyin' there, As still as still could be. The dress she wore was gingham blue, Her hair all tumbled down; It might have been my own true love, My sweetheart Jenny Brown. I approached the body with despair, Saw her bruised and battered feet. I pulled the seaweed from her hair, Where the crabs had begun to eat. I had treated her so cruelly, Never the proper way. When I saw her last she cried, And then she ran away. I waffed the flies and bugs, Away from her swollen and bloated chest. I breathed in very deeply, And then I held my breath. I thought that I could keep it down, But oh was I so wrong. I'm sorry but I barfed upon, My sweetheart, Jenny Brown. A sense of quiet came over the beach, Her death was painless and fast, It seems that I had lost her now; My true love was gone at last. Then, "Aha," she jumped up and said, "I'll bet you thought I'd drowned." What a rotten sense of humor, Has my sweetheart Jenny Brown.

River of No Return - Ian Whitcomb Rambling river flows Winding as it goes In the end it goes to the sea And it takes you, gently takes you, from me. We were so in love Very much in love Now the river drags you away And youll never, ever see another day. Times when my baby was alive Now make me cry deep inside Soon shell reach the sea Gone for good from me Maybe her memory will fade For the river, covers all Im afraid.
The Water Was Red - Johnny Cymbal (1961) MGM 12978 45rpm - Bubbled Under 3/27/61 #108 3wk A boy met a girl on a lonely beach and soon they were holding hands they fell in love on that lonely beach and kissed on the silver sand Until the water was red and the day was done until the water was red from the setting sun They returned to the beach whenever they could and stay until the moon was bright and once they were swimming where the water was deep and the white fin came into sight The shark had struck and disappeared and left his sweetheart dead and as he pulled her to the shore the mooring waves were red Oh the water was red with what the shark done Yes the water was red and his love was gone He looked towards the water and he saw the fin so he gently put her on the sand he walked to the water with a tear in his eye and a gleaming knife in his hand And the water was red once again Yes the water was red as he walked toward his sweetheart with the fin in his hand And the water was red once again Yes the water was red
Two Hour Honeymoon - Paul Hampton (Car crash sounds) (Cricket sounds) (Swanky horn begins) No don't move me, I'll be ok, are you all right? Oh why did this have to happen on our wedding night, huh? It seems all we had was one big blast and then pphhht Well, we always said we would be together until the last I guess you were right, honey. We were driving too fast. Honey, you were the most beautiful bride and I was filled with such pride as you walked to me down the aisle. While the music played, I prayed for you with all my heart because I knew we would never part So, here we are, together till the last. I guess you were right, honey. We were driving too fast. I would have loved like no one else could have ever loved you Yeah, come on, no tears, at least that I can see No, you had your whole life to live And so much love to give, so don't waste it on me Just promise that me every once in a while, when you are alone you will think of the happy times we had together and the way I kissed you, planning our new home, it is just so unfair that it had to end so soon. All we had was a two hour honeymoon. (Police sirens and swanky horn mixed together)
Rocky Austin Roberts (Stevens) -Austin collaborated on the 70's cartoon series "Scooby Doo" and "Josie & the Pussycats". Alone until my eighteenth year We met four springs ago She was shy and had a fear Of things she did not know But we got it on together In such a super way We held each other close at night And traded dreams each day And she said, "Rocky, I've never been in love before Don't know if I can do it But if you let me lean on you Take my hand, I might get through it" (through it) I said, "Baby, oh sweet baby It's love that sets us free And God knows if the world should end Your love is safe with me" We found an old gray house And you would not believe the way We worked at night to fix it up Took classes in the day Paintin' walls and sippin' wine Sleepin' on the floor With so much love for just two Soon we found there'd be one more And she said, "Rocky, I've never had a baby before Don't know if I can do it But if you let me lean on you Take my hand, I might get through it" (through it) I said, "Baby, oh sweet baby It's love that sets us free And God knows if the world should end Your love is safe with me" We had lots of problems then but We had lots of fun Like the crazy party When our baby girl turned one I was proud and satisfied Life had so much to give 'Till the day they told me That she didn't have long to live She said, "Rocky, I've never had to die before Don't know if I can do it..." Now it's back to two again The little girl and I Who looks so much like her sweet mother Sometimes it makes me cry I sleep alone at nights again I walk alone each day And sometimes when I'm about to give in I hear her sweet voice say, to me "Rocky, you know you've been alone before You know that you can do it But if you'd like to lean on me Take my hand, I'll help you through it" (through it) I said, "Baby, oh sweet baby It's love that sets us free And I told you when the world would end Your love was safe with me" She said, "Rocky, you know you've been alone before You know that you can do it But if you'd like to lean on me...
