Mathstronauts™

Mathstronauts offers math enrichment classes for students and math enrichment activities/materials for teachers to use in the classroom. The classes will introduce the fun side of mathematics and/or show how math is used in engineering fields, aviation, computer science, etc.  Students may also learn basic programming skills and become familiar with mathematical programs such as Matlab, Mathematica, Maple, or Derive. Class offerings will be based on the level of interest.

Moon, Mars, & Beyond E-Mission

with Challenger Center of Colorado

Mission Control

"The [group] was organized into 5 planet teams to help NASA locate and rescue a lost space ship that was orbiting one of the outer planets. Each planet team consisted of Cargo, Navigation and Transmissions Specialists. The Cargo Specialists calculated the number of days for a round trip to their planet and the amount of food, water and oxygen needed for the rescue trip. The Navigation Specialists plotted coordinates to help get some location information on the lost space ship. The Transmissions Specialists decoded messages which give them clues about the location of the space ship over the last 5 days. All teams worked together using information they receive to determine where the lost ship is located. The Communications Team relayed all information to Mission Control so that the rescue ship with all the loaded cargo was launched from the base on Mars to that planet."   After much time, our group did indeed locate the lost ship and were ecstatic.
